The Saffron Story
Sanjeev Lahoti and Angela Summers came to Oregon for the love of pinot noir. While Sanjeev had traveled to Oregon on business many times, it was Angela’s first visit in 2003 that took them to the hillside of a grass seed farm in Yamhill. Looking out over the Coast Range and surrounding vineyards, they made the decision to become grape farmers and began planting a vineyard in 2007.
We have been longtime fans of not only the wines, but the hospitality and the amazing tasting room and art collection. This is truly a Willamette Valley gem.
– The Cartwrights
Tony Rynders bought all of their first harvest in 2009. When barrel tasting this vintage the following spring, Sanjeev and Angela were overwhelmed by how good the wine was, especially for such young vines. Their vision of grape farming remained, but it came along with a strong desire to make their own wine. They produced their first Yamhill-Carlton bottle with the 2010 grape harvest from Saffron Fields Vineyard. In 2013, Sanjeev and Angela opened a hospitality center with views of the vineyard and Coast Range.
